We Love Take Note Studio

If you are in our Kindermusik program, you may have noticed our “We Love” theme this month, celebrating the love we have for our studio families and our community.  We want to take this opportunity to inform you of a few things you may not know about us that will make you love us even more; namely, we are a nonprofit organization, which allows us to pursue our mission--nourishing hearts and minds with music for life--beyond our studio doors.

If you are not familiar with the details, being a nonprofit means we operate our organization for a collective benefit as opposed to generating profit for our owners. Simply put, any funds over our operating expenses are used to further our mission. We do this to bring the power of connection through music to a few specific causes we deem exceptionally worthy.

First, we support the people who make Take Note Studio possible -- our studio families. Each year, we give away thousands of dollars of scholarship funds for Kindermusik, instrument lessons and parenting resources.  If you are interested in learning more about what we have to offer but have trepidation about the cost, don’t let that stop you.  We are happy to talk about our scholarship program!

Next, we offer classes and scholarships for a variety of organizations to share the connective power of music.  Our classes help unlock the brains of those who process language, memory, and motor control differently at the The Down’s Syndrome Association of Wisconsin.  At The Crossing of Manitowoc County we demonstrate how music transcends demographics, economics, age and culture, while parents learn the value of play and connective parenting, and how that has a direct impact on cooperation and calm.  We also offer regular intergenerational music classes at area nursing homes, which provide immense joy for the elderly who are often lonely and isolated.  Watching our grandfriends recall old tunes while witnessing kids becoming more comfortable with the elderly community are just two of the many reasons we offer these classes, and one of the reasons we so adamantly stand behind our mission of music for life

Last, we set our sights on the world beyond our community and work with children in Ethiopia and refugee families in Jordan, many of whom live with disabilities or have experienced extreme trauma. Music is a catalyst to help free children from the effects of trauma, while we help train and empower their caregivers with skills to do the essential and challenging work of supporting these children. Though we don’t share the same spoken word, music is the connective and universal language that bridges these life-changing relationships across the world.

The connective power of music allows us to share all of these wonderful gifts in our classrooms, community, and world beyond. “We Love” our mission, nurturing hearts and minds with music for life, and are grateful for your support as we bring this mission to life.
